Narrated by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Alice Walker, “Yemanjá: Wisdom from the African Heart of Brazil” is a documentary film about the Candomblé spiritual culture in Bahia, Brazil. Grounded in strong community and Earth-based wisdom, this vibrant tradition evolved from the ways of enslaved Africans. The film explores Candomblé’s history, challenges, and triumphs through the voices of its “mothers”:
extraordinary women leaders. It will be followed by a Q & A with the director, Donna C. Roberts, winner of no fewer than four “Best Documentary” awards in the last year alone.
