Lecture by Mark Nanos, Religious Studies, University of Kansas
Dr. Nanos (Ph.D. St. Andrews University) has written extensively on the implications for Jewish – Christian relations of a reading of Paul as a Torah-observant Jew founding Jewish subgroup communities. He emphasizes the benefit of understanding Paul’s Judaism in the intra-communal context of other Jewish groups. His book, The Mystery of Romans: The Jewish Context of Paul’s Letter (Minneapolis: Fortress Press, 1996) was the winner of the 1996 National Jewish Book Award for Jewish/Christian Relations.
Before the lecture will be a light lunch reception.
