‘Baatra’ Erdene-Ochir is a 84,000: Translating the Words of the Buddha postdoctoral fellow at UCSB. He received his Ph.D. in Religious Studies from UCSB, master’s degree in Theological Studies from Harvard, and bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from UCSB. He is interested in Indo-Tibetan Buddhist philosophical polemics, history of Buddhist scholastic traditions, and monastic institutions in Tibet and Mongolia as well as in the translations and creations of Buddhist canons.
